I was just wondering — last night, even — when the album art for Blueprint 3 would drop, considering its release date is barely over a month away and we’ve had two singles so far but otherwise very little promotion from Jay-Z or anyone else involved in its production.
Maybe Jay-Z is God and He heard my ponderings, because this morning, Mr. Carter (or at least his webmaster) posted the artwork to the frontpage of his official website.
Not only is it the first Jay-Z album to not feature the man himself on the cover, but I think it’s pretty damn cool. (Better than Blueprint 2, at least.) I’ve enjoyed the songs premiered so far, so I’ve got pretty high hopes for this thing. I still think Jay needs to do a full album with Nas, though. Or is that too 2001?
Also, he’s so fly he’s on autopilot, while guys just stare at his wardrobe.

I’d probably be able to appreciate the album cover more if the Run This Town single cover didn’t look so damn similar with the 3 red bars in the middle. Kinda like what Kanye did with the Love Lockdown cover compared to the actual 808s cover, it’s just lazy imo.
I noticed that too. I'm also not too big on the horizontal stripes because they remind me of U2's album art for "No Line on the Horizon." But I kinda dig the image otherwise, and the fact that it's so different from all his others — maybe the music will follow suit…
I just hope the "www.jay-z.com" thing won't be there.
Seems kind of pointless.
